Council said no - overruledIver, Buckinghamshire
Iver said no. Ministers said yes.
Buckinghamshire Council refused a data centre on the old Woodlands Park landfill in Iver. In July 2025 the Government overruled it. A legal challenge followed, and the Government accepted its decision should be quashed. What happens next is still unclear.

Why local people are worried
Green BeltThe site is Green Belt land next to the M25. Ministers called it 'grey belt' to let it through.
TwiceThe council refused a data centre here more than once. Local decisions keep being overridden.
PromisesThe developer's environmental promises need to be legally binding and enforceable.
It's approved. Here's what you can still do
The headline decision has been made, but conditions and detailed designs still need approval. Each is a chance to be heard.

- Good planning grounds include: impact on the Green Belt or countryside, energy use and carbon, water supply, noise, traffic, wildlife and heritage. Developers' promises are not guarantees: ask for them to be made binding.
