What we're asking for

To Bromley Council: Green Belt farmland at Charmwood Farm is no place for a 50MW data centre with 16 diesel generators. Refuse any application for it.

Why local people are worried

16Diesel generators of up to 48MW in total, according to reports of the developer's screening request.
Green BeltAbout 10 hectares of Green Belt, including good-quality farmland.
HeritageTwo listed buildings within about 200 metres, plus nearby woodland wildlife sites.

Get ready to object

There's no planning application yet, so there's nothing formal to object to. This is the time to get organised, tell the developer and councillors what you think, and be ready when the application goes in.

  • Good planning grounds include: impact on the Green Belt or countryside, energy use and carbon, water supply, noise, traffic, wildlife and heritage. Developers' promises are not guarantees: ask for them to be made binding.

Comment on any planning application on Bromley's planning portal once submitted; meanwhile use the developer's feedback form (orpingtondc@pegasusgroup.co.uk / online form) and contact local councillors and the MP; the MP, Gareth Bacon, is campaigning against it
