A huge AI data centre campus is planned for the old Elsham Wolds airfield. Councillors backed it in March 2026, but the legal agreement isn't signed, and every phase still needs approving.

What we're asking for

To North Lincolnshire Council: Don't sign off the Elsham Tech Park agreement until the real carbon, power and water figures are published and independently checked.

Why local people are worried

364Local people objected when the plans went out to consultation. Only 24 wrote in to support it.
1GWUp to 15 data halls on 176 hectares. It's reported to be the biggest AI data centre planned in the UK.
GasIts own gas-fired power plant on site, sized just under the limit that would trigger national scrutiny.

It's approved. Here's what you can still do

The headline decision has been made, but conditions, legal agreements and detailed designs still need approval. Each is a chance to be heard.

  • Good planning grounds include: impact on the Green Belt or countryside, energy use and carbon, water supply, noise, traffic, wildlife and heritage. Developers' promises are not guarantees: ask for them to be made binding.

Write to North Lincolnshire Council's planning department and ward councillors about the s106 and conditions; comment on reserved matters applications when they are submitted.
